Admission Requirements

1) M.B/ Ch.B. Medicine
Candidates must have Five WASSCE/GCE “O” level credits in English, Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry, and Biology.
Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health
(1) 4 Year BSC Nursing programme (Nursing General or with concentration on Midwifery)
To be admitted to the 4 year BSc Nursing degree programme, candidates must be in
possession of the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level or the West African Senior
School Certificate, with credits in five subjects including English language and Mathematics and
at least two Science subjects, i.e Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
 
(2)-Transfer Students with SRN/RN/WAHEB (Nursing General or with concentration on
Midwifery)
For the 2 year BSc Nursing degree, candidates must have GCE O’level/WASSCE credits in five
subjects including English Language and at least two Science subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry,
Physics & Mathematics plus the above mentioned certificates and two years work experience as
a State Registered Nurse.
(3)-Department of Public Health.
Transfer students with HND
For the 2 year BSc degree in Public Health, candidates must have GCE O’level/WASSCE credits
in five subjects including English Language and at least two Science subjects i.e. Biology,
Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics plus the above mentioned certificate and two years work
experience as a Public Health Officer.

The BSc. in Public and Environmental Health is a four (4) academic year program. HND holders in Public and Environmental Health or its equivalence, shall be considered for advanced standing. The degree is both professional and academic; and prepares students for employment as middle level managers in the various specialized units and departments of the ministry of health of The Gambia, municipalities, local and international health agencies and organizations.

Admission requirements

For admission into the program, candidates must be in possession of one (1) of the following;

  1. General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) with credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language and mathematics, and at least two biological/physical science subject i.e. biology, chemistry, or physics ; which must be obtained in not more than two sittings

OR

  1. The West African Senior Secondary School Certificate with credit passes in five (5) subjects as indicated above.

  1. HND holders in public and environmental health or its equivalence with any of the two conditions (i.e. i. or ii.) indicated above, subject to verification of results, shall be considered for advanced standing.
